Lately, the world-renowned “Edison Award” announced the winners of 2022. Robert Ward, Scientific Advisor of Xi’an Eyedeal Medical, Academician of The American Academy of Engineering, honored the award with his innovative new product Seraph® 100 Microbind® Affinity Blood Filter. This new product stood out from over 400 technologies and products, and won the top prize, the Gold Award.
Committee of Edison Award commented that Seraph 100 is the first and only commercially available pathogen agnostic adsorption therapy towards lung function improvement. It binds with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Clinicians have reported a reduction in inflammatory markers such as IL-6, d-dimer, and ferritin, hemodynamic stabilization, reduction of vasopressors and fractionally inspired oxygen, avoidance or reduction of mechanical ventilation, and a 4x increase of survival rate of critically ill patients. Based on a comprehensive review of the device in innovation, industry impact, market feedback and user experience, committee granted Gold award to the product and Dr. Robert Ward.
