Xi’an Eyedeal academician expert workstation successfully approved and Chief Scientific Advisor Leonard Pinchuk wins Russ Prize

On January 24, the Organization Department of the Xi’an Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Xi’an Science and Technology Association confirmed the academician of Xi’an Eyedeal Medical Technology Co., Ltd. expert workstation was successfully approved by jointly issuing the Notice on Recognizing the Second Batch of Xi’an Academician and Expert Workstations in 2018.
Following the establishment of the academician expert workstation, Xi’an Eyedeal will continue to develop in-depth cooperation with the company’s chief scientific consultant and academician of the National Academy of Engineering Leonard Pinchuk, and will apply Academician Pingchuk’s knowledge in the field of biomedical material conversion.
Xi’an Eyedeal’s team, funding and industrialization will apply key technologies to accelerate the launch of intraocular lens products based on cross-linked polyolefin, and to innovate and develop further new biomedical products.
Also noteworthy was the recent announcement in the US from Ohio University and the National Academy of Engineering awarding the Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ Prize to Leonard Pinchuk, Eyedeal’s chief scientific consultant and academician of the National Academy of Engineering.
Considered the Nobel Prize of bioengineering, the Russ Prize recognizes achievements in widespread use that improves the human condition.
Academician Leonard Pinchuk and four other winners received the prize for the widely applied percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) technology, a minimally invasive treatment for coronary angioplasty.
The Russ Prize is the world’s top bioengineering award and one of the American engineering community’s three major awards. It is selected every two years and recipients receive as USD500,000. As well as honoring major bioengineering achievements, it aims to help the public better understand and value the contributions that engineers make to people’s physical and mental health, and quality of life.
